Business Solutions Hosts Free Workshops for Employers

The Southwest Virginia Workforce Development Board’s Business Solutions team hosted workshops for businesses across the region during the late spring. “The Virtual Workplace: Going Remote, Engaging Your Team, and Managing Effectively” workshop was held at the Virginia Career Works – Richlands Center and the Virginia Career Works – Duffield Center.

With businesses feeling the labor crunch, many will find that they need to adjust how work is performed to entice job seekers to join their ranks. One way employers can do that is by offering employees a fully remote, or hybrid, work model.

Facilitator David Hite shared strategies for implementing a remote work environment, including structuring positions to be remote, communication skills, managing remote teams, building trust, and holding employees accountable. He also shared open source tools to manage projects remotely.

These workshops are free to businesses and intend to provide technical assistance and help the Business Solutions team engage with them and address their needs. The schedule for Fall 2022 is currently in development.
