PROJECT RECONNECT

Project Reconnect aims to help individuals living in Buchanan or Tazewell Counties transition from incarceration to employment while preventing recidivism, allowing them to fully reconnect with their families and communities.

These returning citizens often have minimal financial resources (or none at all) and struggle with the most basic needs, like housing and medical care. This program will help with these basic needs and provide training and career services once a person’s living situation stabilizes.

We can help with:

  • Referral to and payment for VASAP (Virginia Alcohol Safety Action Program) classes that may be needed to reinstate your driver’s license
  • Referral to and payment for counseling services and medical care (if not insured by private insurance or Medicaid)
  • Tuition assistance, books, uniforms, and tools needed to train for a career
  • Referrals to businesses that employ individuals who have a criminal background

The grant is funded by the Thompson Charitable Foundation.
