Blackjewel Rapid Response Events
As the One-Stop Operator for Planning Districts 1 and 2, the Southwest Virginia Workforce Development Board (in conjunction with its mandated partners) is working to provide assistance those employees affected by the Blackjewel bankruptcy.
Three Rapid Response events will be held throughout the area to provide information and assistance to affected workers regarding unemployment insurance, health benefit options, training opportunities, career counseling, and other services that will help minimize the impact that the Blackjewel bankruptcy will have. The events will be held at the following locations and times: Virginia Career Works Center in Norton on July 16th from 9 am – 11am; the former St. Charles Water Authority Building in St. Charles on July 16th from 2 pm – 4 pm; and the Virginia Career Works/Appalachian One-Stop Center in Richlands on July 17th from 9 am – 3 pm.

SWVA Summer Job Fair
The Southwest Virginia Workforce Development Board (in cooperation with its mandated partners) will be hosting a job fair at the Virginia Career Works/Appalachian One-Stop Center in Richlands on July 19th from 10 am – 3 pm.
Jobs across manufacturing, mining, construction, corrections, and transportation industries are available! While this event is in response to the Blackjewel bankruptcy, the public is welcome to attend.
